John Miedema writes about reading and builds book software.

His book, Slow Reading, is a concise review of research and concepts about the benefits of reflective reading. 

I, Reader is a crafted blog series exploring the deep connections between books, technology, brains and the souls of readers. The series is currently in progress. Articles will be added every week or so until the series is completed in 2012. The series is presented here and on Facebook.

Miedema has a Master of Library and Information Science and works as an Information Technology Architect. For interest, he develops open source software such as the OpenBook WordPress plugin. The Open Book Lab is home to a variety of book-related software projects and experiments.

Miedema lives in Wakefield Quebec near Ottawa Ontario.
